UK Design Meets US Manufacturing: How Rotajet and PRI Will Fulfil Rising Demands in the North American Market

Rotajet’s RJ-IW tote washing system has been a trusted solution in Europe for decades. With growing demand in the United States, Rotajet’s US partner, PRI Systems, supports the production of the IBC wash lines at their facility in Dupo, Illinois, with increased enquiries from across the region.

What is the RJ-IW?

The RJ-IW is a range of fully customizable IBC reconditioning machinery, known for its modular design. Its ergonomic features, such as integrated roller tracks and a tilting vacuum station, help save labour and ensure operator safety.

The system consists of several components, including a wash station, drying station, tipping back vacuum station, and a pressure tester. These adaptable components come together to form the RJ-IW wash line, which can be tailored to specific needs.

Growing Demand for IBC Washing

Rising demands in North American Market has grown significantly, driven by the need for efficient and reliable container reconditioning. Rotajet and PRI collaborated to bring the RJ-IW system to the United States, eliminating long shipping times.

Demand continues to grow, particularly from paint, ink, and chemical manufacturers, who are investing in the RJ-IW as part of capital improvement projects. These companies, many of whom have never washed totes before, are now taking control of their container supply chains by adopting this advanced cleaning system.

Local Support in North America

PRI offers comprehensive support for the North American market, including field service technicians who assist with system setup and provide on-site operator training. Additionally, PRI offers local spare parts and product support, ensuring continued efficiency and performance.

Benefits of Local Manufacturing in the USA

By producing the RJ-IW systems in the United States, PRI can significantly reduce delivery times, ensuring faster deployment for customers who need to meet their operational demands quickly.

Local manufacturing eliminates the costs and delays associated with transatlantic shipping, such as customs duties and long wait times for international transport. This translates into cost savings for customers.

Having a local production facility allows PRI to provide more responsive customer service, with easier access to spare parts and quick response times for field support and system maintenance.

Manufacturing in the USA ensures that the products comply with North American industry standards, regulations, and certifications. This offers peace of mind for customers who need to meet specific compliance requirements.

By reducing the need for long-distance shipping, local manufacturing contributes to lower carbon emissions, supporting sustainability goals for both the company and its customers.

Designed for Safety

The RJ-IW’s pressure test station automatically checks for leaks, storing the data on a USB drive for audit purposes. The system dries totes by circulating large volumes of heated air, evaporating water quickly and efficiently.

Safety is a top priority, with interlocks, password-protected set points in the Allen Bradley PLC, and heavy-duty Plexiglas panels that allow operators to position totes behind protective barriers, reducing exposure to risks.

Water-Saving Technology

The RJ-IW system is designed with water conservation in mind. The low-flow, high-pressure cleaning action of the Rotajet E200 wash head minimizes water use.

Additionally, the optional heated, chemically treated recirculating wash system eliminates stubborn residues and automatically rinses totes with fresh water. By recirculating hot wash solution, the system saves both water and energy compared to single-pass systems.
